“The House of Peace” a Rotary Scholar Project
This is a unique 3-unit building and the 2-bedroom/1-bathroom apartments are set up for economical living. We’re regularly making upgrades, improvements and taking advice from residents and guest on how to make this funky little onclave of Waterville’s ‘Old Town’ hip and interesting.
Through a concerted effort to refurbish and restore this 125+ year old building at the pace of our client-guests, we’ve created a living private-community effort toward addressing affordable housing. Buy engaging our ‘tenants’ (we prefer the term ‘neighbors’, this is where our family’s Rotary mission began in taking an inclusive, yet business approach to the affordable housing crisis by intrepidly embarking on a venture to answer the question: ‘Can [reasonably] affordable rental housing be both profitable (financially AND socially) while empowering the residents and owner?’… it has been a rocky road, but so far, the answer appears to be “YES”.
